Journey With A Purpose®

Tails of Valor®, Paws of Honor, Inc (TOV) was established in 2014 with a mission to provide rehabilitation through non-medicinal therapies. Our canine assisted service programs provide social interactions and human/canine bonding while molding canines able to assist with the psychological and physical traumas affecting our Veterans, Law Enforcement and Emergency personnel while also embracing their families on this new journey.

Our canines can enhance a therapeutic environment which will reduce friction caused when experiencing social activities, thus leading to increased communication and focus. Our wellness staff provides support needed for positive physical and mental health social interactions during sessions with our canines, all of who are named in honor of a fallen soldier.

Each particular activity, command or exercise, taught to the canine during their journey of training, correlates to symptoms, known or unknown, to the participant. All our canines have been socialized to experience exposures of everyday living, as well as basic and advance commanding and tasking that is specific to their human.  These highly-trained ADA/TOV guideline canines are given at no cost to our applicants.

Our canine assisted services help our clients heal from trauma stressors related injuries including PST (Post Traumatic Stress) and/or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). The programs are designed for all to work together in therapeutic activities with goals for change and the expectation of identifiable progress. AAT is a non-medicinal goal oriented option used to enhance and complement the traditional therapy. AAA is a non-medicinal less goal directed option with the key benefit of spontaneous interaction to alleviate emotional distress or general stress symptoms. All services are provided at no cost to our clients.

These recovery-oriented programs are for those seeking to define what is preventing them from achieving quality-of-life measures. These programs bring awareness of behaviors, fears, and attitudes to overcome.

Tails of Valor® is privately funded by generous donors wanting to give back to those that sacrifice for us in order to enjoy today.

We believe that valid intervention will lead to increased long-term behavioral development that is positive for all participants and their families.  Our canine assisted programs offer opportunities to interact with members of the community and experience positive interactions with society. Our commitment is lifetime to participatory clients served.

CORE VALUES

In 2023, we purchased 19 acres to house our canine assisted service programs.  These programs are focused on improving our clients diagnosed with mental and physical health difficulties. By providing goal-directed canine interactions, we are able to focus on a therapeutic non judgmental environment to improve quality of life and self regulation.  Our programs can be partnered with a traditional treatment plan to positively impact rehabilitation of an emotional behavioral lifestyle.

We will always Respect, Honor, and Serve while treating the whole person, not just the symptoms of a problem. Together we are helping to create a better tomorrow for those serving our nation, in our communities, today.
