Mark C. Baum

Mark Baum, from Quakertown, PA joined the Guard in 2005 after leaving the active army as he missed doing something to help his country. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the PA Army National Guard. Mark, a respected leader of the platoon, was killed after his quick-reaction unit responded to an improvised explosive device attack in Mushads.
He was severely wounded by small arms fire from enemy forces and was air lifted to Baghdad and died on Saturday February 21, 2009.
