Named in Honor of 1st Lt Daniel B Hyde

Daniel graduated from Downey High School in 2003. He lettered in three varsity sports in high school - football, basketball, and golf. He was elected student body president twice and was accepted by all three military academies. He graduated from West Point 23rd out of 968 before getting his Ranger tab and airborne qualification. 1st LT Hyde was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Daniel, age 24, who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, died March 7, 2009, in Samarra, Iraq, of wounds sustained in Tikrit when an explosive device struck his unit vehicle.
